I am so perplexed about this strange vase. I found it at the Salvation Army store in Newtown. I’m not sure what it is or who made it, but it’s large, and the body seems machine made, while the little #hydrangea flower topper seems handmade - I’m not 100% sure they were made to go together, or if they found each other at the second hand store. Whatever the case, they make for a nice textural juxtaposition. I particularly love the shapes they make together, and they make a nice abstract backdrop for my little Indonesian mask. If anyone recognises the vase or has seen anything like it before, let me know what you know. I’d love to find out more! #decor #OpShopFinds #OddStuff #objetdecrap
Spending the morning here is just about all I can manage for the next hour or so.
Last night was tough but amazing. Working with an awesome group of people to make a movie in #48hours, it’s always going to be like that. I lost the plot at about 2am when our crazy idea had us still shooting. Wouldn’t change anything, though. Well, maybe I would have had a few more hours sleep the night before it all kicked off It’s all in our editor’s capable hands. @bai_palmer is kicking ass and taking names. In the meantime, I’m going to sit here and drink a cup of coffee and figure is all out. #Filmmaking, man. It sure takes it outta ya! #48HoursNZ #wellingtonnz
Hugo the Chimp, Gaspard the Cheetah and the little Indonesian God.
I love it when your magpie eye helps you gather three unlikely objects together to for the perfect jazz trio.
I found Hugo at an adorable little shop in #featherston filled with all sorts of gorgeous things. He was outrageously expensive so I left him there, and motored off across the #Wairarapa for the day. But I couldn’t stop thinking of his serious little face. So just as we set off home I pleaded with my companion for the day to tide go, and let me pop back to the cute little shop. Hugo came home with us. He weights a tonne by the way, but oh Lord, I was so happy to have him in my lap as we pootled over the hill!
Now, Gasoard came much later. He was languishing in the sale shelves at #H+M but he all but leapt into my arms when I saw him. I love his lumpy brow and serious whiskers. But I think he would be happier he had a big beautiful #Monstera leaf arching out of him.
My little stone God was hidden behind about fifty of his little brothers and sisters at #BrownnCo when I spotted him peeking at me shyly. I had vowed not to buy anything, but his sad little face just called to me, so home he came. I’m not sure what he’s the God of, but I think it might be “of staring at things forlornly”, so that’s appropriate.
I didn’t know they would get along so well, let alone become inseparable, when I found them, but so they are and I am very #glad.
Tell me about your favourite finds!! .
